Did you hear about former President Trump firing “back at the House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021?

“They’re con people,” ABC News reported the ex-president saying. “The committee has held three of the seven public hearings scheduled for this month, laying out what it says was a ‘sophisticated, seven-part plan’ by Trump and his supporters to overturn his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden.”

In USA Today, the other day, I’m reading about “political operations linked to” the former president and the GOP having given “millions to those that organized the Jan. 6 rally before a mob of pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol…”

A writer in the center-right news and opinion website, The Bulwark, mentioned getting numerous emails from the former president, and the ex-president’s eldest son, Donald Jr.

Trump Sr. was letting The Bulwark writer know how much he values him as a “trusted ally,” in one of the emails… even though the writer isn’t sure how he got on Trump’s email list. He was offering the writer “exciting opportunities, like having his name “permanently engraved on the ‘Official 2022 Trump Donor Wall.” He needed to “contribute $45 by midnight…space was “extremely limited. In another email, Don Jr. was promising The Bulwark writer “priority access to sign my father’s Official Birthday Card before ANYONE ELSE.”

Do numerous limited-time offers, in the world of politics, get you thinking about numerous, limited-time offers, elsewhere — like on late-night TV programs — where actual products are being sold?

You send your money, and you get something that’ll seal your leaky plumbing, or sparkle up your car.
